Lots of Things To Do in Around Lanreath, Looe and Cornwall

Coast and country

Bocaddon Farm lies hidden in beautiful countryside six miles inland from Looe, Polperro & Fowey and half a mile north of Lanreath village. This part of Cornwall is noted for its wonderful colourful hedgerows in the Spring, full of primroses, campions & bluebells.

Surrounding towns

Looe: Excellent leisure time opportunities including shopping and beaches on the east and west banks of Looe River. Fine riverside and woodland walks on the inland path as well as coastal paths in both directions, there’s also a monkey sanctuary and music museum.

Polperro: A picturesque fishing port, with numerous good pubs and a beautiful cliff top walk to Looe, is steeped in fishing tradition and local history.

Fowey: Excellent fishing and sheltered port/town. The town has a long history of naval activity, particularly it’s involvement in D-Day rescue work. Daphne du Maurier, Cornwall's famous novelist, lived in a house by Bodinnick ferry slipway.

Lostwithiel: Another fine town. River walks, antiques, as well as the ruined castle of Restormel to visit, the castle is used by various drama companies who perform during the summer.

Beautiful Cornish gardens

There are numerous gardens to visit, including the Lost Gardens of Heligan (near Mevagissey) and the almost tropical garden of Trebah. Only 25 minutes away (near St Blazey off the A390) is the ever changing Eden Project. With over a million visitors already this is an attraction not to be missed — the two domes and the surrounding landscape feature not just plants but all manner of exhibits aimed at providing an environmental education.

Boconnoc House & Gardens: Awarded the Sothebys Historic Houses Restoration Award and the Georgian Group Architectural Award for the Restoration of a Country Mansion, Boconnoc now has an unrivalled reputation for hosting weddings, corporate days, private parties and other events. Bocaddon Farm is ideally situated as a place to stay when attending events at Boconnoc.

Country walks

You can enjoy spectacular walks, both coastal and moorland, with breathtaking views and sunsets. For the more energetic visitor there are plenty of golfing opportunities, cycling and horse riding. For sea lovers try shark or mackerel fishing, or just enjoy the sandy beaches and rock pools.
